Carina Lentsch

Carina Lentsch is a seasoned advocate and civil defense litigator, with over a decade of experience. She joined Richards Advocacy in 2025 as a Partner. Her previous experience includes working for a large national law firm, a small boutique insurance defense litigation firm in Toronto, and most recently starting and growing a successful health law practice.

Carina is a passionate advocate and trusted advisor with deep expertise in navigating professional conduct related complaints, investigations and disciplinary hearings and proceedings. She helps her clients navigate high stakes legal issues and proceedings with clarity, confidence, and understanding – to achieve a resolution that considers their unique needs and circumstances.

Carina routinely acts as defence counsel to regulated and chartered professionals facing serious allegations of professional misconduct, such as, for example, failure to meet or maintain professional standards, privacy and confidentiality breaches, record-keeping and billing irregularities, fraud and misrepresentation, professional boundaries and ethics violations, physical and verbal abuse, sexual abuse of patients/clients, discrimination and harassment.

Carina also assists public, private and non-profit organizations, including professional governing bodies, with regulatory compliance, managing legal risk, and resolving and navigating complex and highly sensitive conduct-related investigations and proceedings.

Her broader civil and insurance defense litigation experience spans professional malpractice, negligence, tort, breach of contract and more. She has appeared before all levels of the Ontario courts, the Human Rights Tribunal for Ontario (HRTO), the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board (HPARB), and privacy commissioners as well as other administrative tribunals.

In the healthcare sector, Carina has assisted and worked with hundreds of regulated health professionals in addressing and resolving matters involving their regulatory Colleges, including, Nurses (RN, RPN, NP), Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) and other manual therapists, Dentists and Dental Hygienists, Registered Psychotherapists (RP), Occupational Therapists (OT), Acupuncturists and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners. (TCM), Registered Social Workers (RSW) and many other allied health professionals.

Carina has been actively involved in Ontario’s Health Law Bar and has been a member of the OBA’s Heath Law Section for many years. She has served on the Section Executive, including as Chair and member of the OBA Council for the 2023-24 term, and chaired numerous professional development programs relevant to health law, professional regulation and practice management.
